YIPI Students Flock To Cobourg

The Cobourg Police Service’s summer youth in policing initiative students (YIPI) will be welcoming about 40 YIPI students from Gananoque, Kingston and Peel Regional Police and Peel Youth Village program as part of a cooperative exchange program, taking place on August 16, 2016.

This event is a shared initiative in exploring the differences in urban and rural environments.  Recently, Cobourg students visited Peel Regional Police YIPI students and toured the Roy McMurty Youth Facility.  They also took part in team-building/trust programs with Peel School Board’s Ropes course.  Earlier in July, our YIPIs joined other YIPI students to assist with Gananoque’s RibFest and Kingston’s Fun Fair.

The visiting students will participate in a sailboat excursion on a schooner, be exposed to cooperative paddling in dragon boats and also experience Police simulation training.

The Cobourg Police thank our community partners Monica Sheridan and Rob McLean who are the owners of the “Interlude”.  Also, thanks go to the Commodore of the Cobourg Yacht Club Rob Macleod, Jeremy from the Cobourg Dragon Boat Canoe Club and Town of Cobourg Marina Staff.
