From the 12th of March 2018 through the 18th of March 2018, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 164 occurrences including: 7 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 12 Alarm calls, 15 Theft/Shoplifting calls, 9 Suspicious Persons/Vehicles calls, 4 Domestic/Family Disputes, 6 Mischief calls, 2 Assault calls, and 2 Neighbor Disputes. Here are some examples of calls for service for the week:

March 12:

  • Police investigated a theft of a laptop computer from a downtown business during the lunch hour. Police are advising people to vigilant at all times and not to leave valuables unattended.

A male was issued with a trespass notice from a business on Division Street after allegedly stealing from the business on a previous date.

March 13:

  • A vehicle on Division Street was entered overnight and a quantity of items stolen. Police are reminding the public to keep their vehicles locked at all times and not to leave any valuables inside.

  • A 38 year old female was charged with theft and possession of stolen property under the Criminal Code after stealing a DVD from a retail store.

March 14:

  • A woman driver was charged with Turn not in Safety under the Highway Traffic Act after a motor vehicle collision at Division Street and Veronica Street.

  • Cobourg Police executed and arrest warrant on a man after he was located by the Port Hope Police Service.

March 15:

  • Police investigated a mischief at the Northumberland Mall after graffiti was written in a bathroom stall with indelible marker.

  • Police investigated two separate thefts from retail stores on Elgin Street West involving a male and female suspect.

March 16:

  • Police were requested to stand by and keep the peace while personal property was obtained from a private residence.

  • A female driver was charged with 130 under the Highway Traffic Act after a motor vehicle collision at King Street East and Brook Road North.

  • A youth was arrested on weapons charges at the Cobourg Community Centre after brandishing a knife.

 March 17:

  • Police investigated a mischief at a private residence after a window was broken. No charges were laid at the request of the complainant.

  • Police investigated a theft of clothing after the complainant’s reported their laundry had been stolen from a laundry mat.

March 18:

  • Police conducted Liquor Licence Inspections at local licenced establishments in conjunction with Saint Patrick’s Day. One Liquor Licence ticket was issued for having liquor in open container other than licenced premises, residence, or private place.

  • Police investigated a mischief after an interlocking paving stone was thrown through the windshield of a parked vehicle.
