From the 11 April, 2016 to the 17 April, 2016, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 145 occurrences including: 7 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 2 Mental Health Calls, 2 Alarm Calls, 2 Domestic Dispute, 3 Harassment calls, 6 Neighbour Dispute calls, 2 Impaired calls, 3 Theft calls, 5 Assault calls and 2 Threats calls.

Here are some examples of calls for service for the week:

April 11, 2016

  • Police responded to an alleged break and enter at an apartment in Cobourg. Upon further investigation, Police determined the call to be undetermined.
  • Police attended a private residence for a report of theft of property, upon further investigation; Police determined the call was unfounded.
  • Police were called to a business in regards to an issue with Trespassing. Advice was given to the owner of the business in regards to trespassing.
  • Police were called to a school in the Town of Cobourg in regards to two separate incidents, one of threats and one of assault.  Youths in both matters were formally cautioned for their actions.
  • Police received a report of a theft of a bicycle from a private residence. A short time later the bicycle was recovered a short distance from the complainant’s residence.
  • Police assisted a female suffering from mental health issues after she attended the Police station on an unrelated matter.
  • Police were called to a local business in the Town of Cobourg in regards to a Trespassing issue.  As a result of a Police investigation, a male and a female were trespassed from the business.

April 12, 2016

  • Police attended a private residence in regards to a report of a Domestic Dispute in progress. Upon further investigation, Police determined that it was not a domestic incident but rather a male who had an injured arm. Police assisted the male to attend the hospital.
  • Police investigated a 2 vehicle accident on private property. No charges were laid in this matter.
  • Police were called to the area of Chapel Street in the Town of Cobourg in regards to an unwanted female.  Police located the female who had left the scene. She was sent on her way without incident.
  • Police were called to a private residence in regards to a report of threats over Social Media. Upon further investigation, Police determined the complaint was unfounded.

April 13, 2016

  • Police were called to a neighbour dispute twice at the same address in the Town of Cobourg in regards to tenants arguing.  It was determined that alcohol was a contributing factor. No charges were laid in these incidents.
  • Police were called to a private residence in regards to an individual suffering from mental health concerns.  The individual was taken to hospital for treatment.
  • Police were called to a private residence in regards to an ongoing disturbance. Upon arrival on scene, Police located an individual suffering from Mental Health concerns. Police transported the individual to the hospital for treatment.
  • Police received a complaint of an assault between 2 neighbours. The complainant declined to lay charges in this matter.

April 14, 2016

  • Police were called to the area of Darcy Street in regards to an assault.  The complainant was unable to identify the assailant.
  • Police received a call in regards to an impaired driver. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle located in a field. Upon further investigation, Police determined that the vehicle had become stuck in the mud. The owner of the vehicle had the vehicle towed.

April 15, 2016

  • Police received a complaint of harassment in regards to repeated text messages.  The accused in the matter was cautioned for their behaviour.
  • Police received a complaint of the wig wags being stuck for approximately 30 minutes on Darcy Street.  The appropriate authorities were contacted and fixed the wig wags.
  • Police were called to assist ambulance with an unruly male.  Upon arrival the male had calmed down and Police were no longer required.

April 16, 2016

  • Police received a report of a neighbour dispute. Both parties were counselled and given advice by Police in regards to the complaint.
  • Police received a complaint of a suspicious male. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the male in question.
  • Police received a complaint of an intoxicated male yelling a people passing by. The male was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place.

April 17, 2016

  • Police were called to the area of William and University Ave in the Town of Cobourg for a 2 vehicle accident with injuries. One driver was charged in this incident.
  • Police received a complaint of mischief to a vehicle.  No charges were laid in this incident as there were no suspects.
  • Police were called to a private residence in regards to ongoing harassment.  One person was formally cautioned in this matter.
