Utter Death Threats and Possession of Weapons DangerousWarning - this news article expired on 2015-11-26. Information may no longer be accurate or applicable

On Sunday the 25th of October 2015 at approximately 1:45 AM, members of the Cobourg Police Service were conducting a liquor license check at an establishment in the east end of Cobourg. As the officers entered the parking lot they were advised that a man had been in the parking lot brandishing knives and uttering threats to another man. Several witnesses gave accounts of the incident and the man was arrested a short time later at the same location.

Members of the Cobourg Police Service Uniform patrol and the Criminal Investigations Bureau executed a Search Warrant at the man’s residence and several knives were recovered.

Charles Phillips, 26 of Cobourg was charged with the following offences;

  • Utter Death Threats Contrary to Section 264.1 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of Weapons Dangerous to the Public Contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code

Charles Phillips will be held for a bail hearing scheduled for the 25th of October 2015 in the town of Cobourg.
