Trout Opener

On the evening of Friday, the 22nd of April to Sunday the 24th of April, 2016, Enforcement Officers (uniformed Officers and undercover Officers) from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Cobourg Police Service conducted a Joint Forces Operation around the area of the Cobourg Creek and Lake Ontario, in the Town of Cobourg.  The enforcement team made contact with 191 Anglers in Cobourg area who were present from across the Province of Ontario, Quebec and the United States.  As a result of the joint forces operation, here are the following statistics:

Charges:

1 x Assault – Arrested – Criminal Code;

7 x Trespass for the purpose of fishing – Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (FWCA);

1 x Fishing without a licence – Ontario Fishery Regulations (OFR); and

1 x Open liquor in public place – Liquor License Act.

Cautions:

1X Fish without having licence on your person – Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (FWCA);

1X Interfere with lawful fishing – Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (FWCA);

1X Retain a fish that has been hooked in any part of the body other than the mouth – Ontario Fishery Regulations (OFR); and

15 X Trespass for the purpose of fishing – Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (FWCA).
