Suspected Explosives on Cornell Crescent

Media Release

On Monday March 5, 2018 approximately 12:30 members of the Cobourg Police service attended Cornell Crescent in Cobourg regarding explosives that were located on the lawn and boulevard in the area. Police and members of the Cobourg Fire Department located several empty 2 inch plastic tubes with white paper with the words “explosive” written on them. Also located was an empty cardboard fireworks box labelled “Mean Machine”. The items had been in the weather for some time and it appears the tubes are the remains of the firework after being set off.

There is no concern for public safety at this time.

Members of the public are reminded to use extreme caution if an explosive device is located, to call 911 immediately and not to disturb the item.

Any questions can be directed to the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821
