On Saturday the 12th day of September 2015 at approximately 4:45 pm members of the Cobourg Fire Department and the Cobourg Police Service responded to a structure fire in the east end of Cobourg. Police and Fire personnel arrived to a working fire in a multi apartment complex.

Thanks to the excellent work of the Cobourg Fire Department, the fire was suppressed and the building cleared with no injuries. Cobourg Fire crews and Cobourg Police Officers remained on scene for several hours ensuring that the fire was completely out.

Damage to the premise appears to be extensive and the total value of repairs will be in the thousands of dollars.

Property damage caused by structure fires amounts to millions of dollars each year in Canada. According to the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services there were 76 deaths attributed to fires in Ontario in 2013.

The Cobourg Police Service is asking for information on this incident and encourages everyone to call in to help protect our community.
