Speeding leads to Multiple ChargesWarning - this news article expired on 2015-10-21. Information may no longer be accurate or applicable

On Sunday the 20th of September 2015 at 9:38 pm, while the Cobourg Police Service conducted Traffic Enforcement in the area of County Road 2 and Wilkins Gate, an Officer of the Service conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle which had been speeding.

As a result of the traffic stop, the investigation revealed that the driver of the motor vehicle was Prohibited Driving – Canada Wide for a previous Criminal Code offence and conviction; the driver was also a Suspended Driver.

The driver was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Speeding, contrary to Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act;  Owner Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to Section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance;  Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to Section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act;  Drive Without Device (Interlock Device), contrary to Section 41.2(13) and Ontario Regulation 251 of the Highway Traffic Act; and Possession of a Substance in Schedule II, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Charged with the above offences, is:

Conner HARRIS (22 years old) of Port Hope

HARRIS’s motor vehicle was also impounded under the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

HARRIS was released by Appearance Notice and three Part III Summons to a Defendant with a court date of 28 October 2015 at 9:30 am, located at 860 William Street, Cobourg, Ontario.
