Shop With A Cop

The Cobourg Police Service is proudly presenting ‘Shop with a Cop’ this holiday season which will take place on Sunday the 16th of December. This event provides a fun filled day for deserving youth in Cobourg while creating positive relationships with law enforcement. Uniformed officers, Special constables  and Auxiliary Constables will partner with 11 children selected from the community and help them shop for Christmas gifts for their family members as well as something special for themselves. Participants will then have lunch, wrap their gifts for their family, and spend time getting to know the officers.

The purpose of this program is to foster and create positive connections between youth and law enforcement while providing children in need an opportunity to embrace the spirit of giving through purchasing gifts for their family.

Children that have a good relationship with police are less likely to get into trouble and more likely to seek help from police when they need it. This program will break down barriers while making the holidays brighter in the community by providing gifts to deserving children and families.

Participating youth have been selected by local schools and a local community social service agency. Children have been sponsored by several generous community organizations including CrossFit Cobourg, Cobourg Nissan, JJ’s Steak & Burgers, Hoover’s Home Energy Inc., Baker’s Cleaners, Cobourg Buy & Sell, Cobourg Police Association, and Symon’s Auto Sales, as well as 4 generous individuals from the community. We are very grateful for these wonderful businesses and individuals who are holiday hero’s helping make wishes come true.
