R.I.D.E. Checks – Super Bowl Sunday (Results)
Cobourg Police Officers and Special Constables conducted R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Checks on Super Bowl Sunday, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, on the 4th of February, 2018. R.I.D.E. Checks were set up at various checkpoints within and around the Town of Cobourg roadway locations, as well as, conducting roving R.I.D.E. Checks with Traffic Stops.
Here are the results:
550 motor vehicles (drivers) checked, zero related alcohol infractions;
9 Charges related to the Highway Traffic Act:
Drive While Under Suspension (X1)
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit (X4);
Drive Without Proper Headlights (X1);
Fail to Surrender Insurance (X1);
Fail to Change Ownership (X1); and
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plates (X1), Motor Vehicle Towed;
4 Verbal Warnings related to Highway Traffic Act:
Drive Without Proper Headlights (X3);
Unfit Motor Vehicle – Towed and Impounded;
The Cobourg Police Service are reminding motorists that if they observe an impaired driver on the road to call 911 IMMEDIATELY.
