Media Release - Pair Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

On Friday, October 27th, 2017 police investigated a report of a fraud where the suspects stole the victim’s bank card and used it at various locations in Cobourg.  Again Cobourg officers were able to identify both suspects through video surveillance and a warrant in the first was obtained for 27 year old Crystal-Lynn SPARKS and 26 year old Steven NASTUK. 

On Friday, December 29th, 2017, Cobourg Police investigated a theft from a business in the west end of Cobourg.  Officers were able to identify both suspects after viewing video surveillance from the store and a warrant in the first was obtained for both parties.  A warrant in the first was obtained for 27 year old Crystal-Lynn SPARKS and 26 year old William David CRUMB.

On Sunday, January 28th, 2018 members of the Cobourg Police Service arrested 26 year old William David CRUMB.

On Wednesday, February 6th, 2018 members of the Cobourg Police Service arrested 27 year old Crystal-Lynn SPARKS.

Both accused were charged with the following offences:

  1. Theft Under $5000.00 section 334(b) of Criminal Code

  2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 section 355(b) of Criminal Code.

Additionally, SPARKS was charged with the following offences stemming from the October 27th, 2017 incident:

  1. Theft Under $5000.00 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code

  2. Theft Under $5000.00 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code

  3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

  4. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

  5. Uttering Forged Document contrary to section 368(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

  6. Fraud Over $5000.00 contrary to section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

  7. Unauthorized Use of Card contrary to section 342(1)(c) of the Criminal Code

    Sparks was held for a Bail Hearing on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018.

    At the time of this press release Cobourg Police Service is still holds a Warrant in the First for Steven NASTUK.
