Off Duty Officer AssaultedWarning - this news article expired on 2015-03-10. Information may no longer be accurate or applicable

On Monday the 09 February, 2015 at approximately 1:23 pm, Police were called to attend a business on King Street West in the Town of Cobourg in regards to an off duty Port Hope Police Officer being assaulted while trying to effect an arrest for several outstanding warrants.

 

As a result of the subsequent Police investigation, 25 year old Roland Ferguson of Cobourg was arrested and was charged with Assault Police with Intent to Resist Arrest contrary to section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and 2 counts of Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.  The Officer sustained minor injuries.

 

Roland Ferguson was held for bail and is to appear in court for a bail hearing on 10 February, 2015.
