Pedestrian Injured / Motor Vehicle Collision

On Monday the 9th of March 2015 at 10:55 am, the Cobourg Police Service received a report of a Motor Vehicle Collision involving an elderly female pedestrian.  The incident occurred at the intersection of Division Street and Queen Street, in the Town of Cobourg.  As a result of the investigation, the roadway was closed for two hours for a Level II Collision Investigation.

The pedestrian was walking northbound on Division Street, crossed the intersection at Queen Street in the cross walk and was struck by a motor vehicle turning eastbound off of Division Street.  The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the motor vehicle is charged with Fail to Yield to Pedestrian contrary to Section 144(7) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The Cobourg Police Service would like to remind all motorists to be patient, always look for pedestrians in intersections. Please stay alert and slow down on roadways.
