Male Arrested for Operating a Vehicle while Prohibited

On Monday January 28, 2019, a Cobourg Police Officer observed a motor vehicle speeding in a Community Safety Zone in the Town of Cobourg.   The Officer stopped the vehicle on Nickerson Drive.

Investigation revealed that the male driver was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle. 

The driver, 47 year old David BEESLEY, was charged with the following offences:

  1. Operation While Prohibited - Contrary to section 320.18 of the Criminal Code.

  2. Speeding - Contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.

  3. Fail to Have Validation on Plate - Contrary to Section 7(1)(c)(i).

  4. Drive Motor Vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock device - Contrary to Section 41.2(13)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act.

David BEESLEY was released by way of a Form 9 Appearance Notice for the Criminal Charge and given three Summonses to a Defendant for the Highway Traffic Act Offences with a Court Date of March 6th, 2019.  The motor vehicle was also impounded for 45 days in accordance to the Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP).
