Joint Forces Safety Initiative With Cobourg Police and OPP

On Saturday May 11, 2019, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, a Joint Forces Safety Initiative is being conducted at the Kia Motors located at 1145 Division Street, Cobourg.  Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) (Northumberland Detachment) and the Cobourg Police Service will be in attendance for the purposes of educating drivers / owners of motor vehicles, regarding window tint and illegal licence plate covers.

Drivers of motor vehicles, cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians rely on the ability to see each other while using the roadway, intersections, crosswalks and crossings; motor vehicles tinted with dark tint can pose safety risks to all.  As well, Police Officers when conducting traffic stops or RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Check Points, dark tint can prevent Officers from seeing into the motor vehicles for safety purposes.

The Joint Forces Safety Initiative Officers encourage motorists to take this opportunity to bring their vehicles in for a quick tint inspection.  Officers will test your motor vehicles tint and educate you on the changes coming to the Highway Traffic Act, in relation to window tint and illegal licence plate covers.
