On Friday the 1st of May 2015 at approximately 11:05 pm, a vehicle travelling westbound on Elgin Street East came to a stop second vehicle back at a stale red light at the intersection of Elgin Street East and Division Street.

The light turned to green and vehicles around this vehicle proceeded to drive on while the accused sat stationary for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. A marked Cobourg Police Cruiser was directly behind this vehicle at the time.

On proceeding forward, the vehicle was also observed to swerve in the lane and almost strike a truck in the next lane. The vehicle went to turn on Ontario, entering the lane for oncoming traffic and was then stopped by Police.  The accused failed a Roadside Screening test and was arrested.

Denise Johnston, 27 years, of Cobourg is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle and Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs. As well, her driver’s license has been suspended for a period of 90 days.
