FIVE CHARGES LAID FROM DRIVING RAMPAGE
On Wednesday, May 8 at approximately 4:30 pm, a 1999 Acura was witnessed
being driven erratically in the Fourth Street and King Street area. The vehicle was seen running a stop sign and crashing in to an adjacent curb.
The next report police received about this car was that it was in a drive-thru line at a restaurant on William Street and the driver had fallen asleep. Apparently he was woke up by other drive-thru customers and he ended up pulling back onto William Street without picking up his food.
At this point, Cobourg Police, responding to the restaurant call, spotted the accused travelling southbound on William Street, pull a U-turn and head northbound with police in pursuit.
He finally pulled into the Victoria Place plaza where he was arrested by police.
His obvious signs of impairment result in his return to the police office where he provided two breathe samples, both almost three times the legal limit.
During the course of the investigation, police also located 2.5 grams of suspected marijuana on his person and in the car.
Twenty three year old Dallyn Maclennan of Warkworth has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, impaired driving, care or control of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs and possession of marijuana.
He will appear in Cobourg Court on Wednesday, May 22 at 9:30 am.
