The Cobourg Police Service was called to Brookside Youth Center in the early morning hours on Tuesday, December 29th, 2015 after receiving a call regarding a bomb threat.   Investigation by Brookside Youth Center staff members with consultation from the Ontario Provincial Police Explosive Disposal Unit and the assistance of the Cobourg Police Service revealed an anonymous call had been received.

The joint investigation with cooperation amongst all three agencies has concluded that there was no valid threat to Brookside Youth Center or to public safety.  A search of the premises was conducted by Brookside Youth Center Staff after consultation with both police agencies.

The Cobourg Police Service continues to actively seek information from anyone who may have any information concerning this crime.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821 or via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Every bomb threat or incident of a suspected explosive device should be considered as valid until all reasonable precautions for public safety have been taken or until the danger to life and property has been eliminated.
