Fake Money Posted at Local High School Cobourg Police Crest

On Friday September 9th over one hundred fake bills were taped to the outside of St. Mary’s School.  The bill is not counterfeit; it contains biblical messages and photos.  The distributor is unknown and there have been no direct threats to St Mary’s School or Cobourg Collegiate Institute.

The bill has a website written on the bottom. The website has a counter indicating an end time of Wednesday September 14th at 7pm.

There are reports of the bill being circulated throughout the United States.  Police could not find any direct threats only radical ideations and conspiracies.

Police are taking this matter seriously and will be working collaboratively with school officials and staff to ensure everybody’s safety. Police will increase their presence in both Secondary Schools throughout the day.

The Cobourg Police Service encourages anyone with information related to this incident to call the station at 905-372-6821 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at http://stopcrimehere.ca
