Domestic Assault Arrest

On Thursday August 29, 2019 at 7:53 pm police received a call regarding an assault that had just occurred near Division Street just north of downtown Cobourg. Upon arrival police spoke to the victim and an independent witness. It was determined that the victim was confronted by his ex-girlfriend of over having a new girlfriend. The woman accused punched him several times in the head then proceeded to spit in his face and hit him on the side of face with a flashlight causing his glasses to break. 

As a result of the police investigation a 37-year-old woman from Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code
  2. Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code
  3. Breach of Recognizance contrary to section 145 (3) of the Criminal Code

Names will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
