Traffic Safety Initiative – Stop Sign Enforcement – Intersection Safety

 

Through 30 January to 6 February 2015, the Cobourg Police Service will be conducting traffic enforcement at various intersections which are controlled by Stop Signs.

 

The enforcement initiative will be conducted to assist in public safety and to assist drivers who operate their motor vehicle at, within and through intersections. 

Officers will conduct traffic stops with drivers of motor vehicles who are not adhering to the regulation Stop Signs.  The offences of "Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop” and "Disobey Stop Sign – Stop Wrong Place” within the Town of Cobourg, will be enforced at various intersections.

 

The above offences carry a minimum penalty of $110.00 with three demerit points contrary to Section 136(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.  This enforcement is a Zero Tolerance traffic safety enforcement intiative.
