Cst. Chris Garrett Memorial Bridge

The Cobourg Police Service is proud to announce that In accordance with the Highway Memorials For Fallen Police Officers Act, 2002, the County Road 45 bridge, over the 401, has been dedicated and re-named in honour of Cst. Chris Garrett #221. It is now named the Cst.Chris Garrett Memorial Bridge.

As a gesture of respect, bridge dedications are intended to posthumously recognize police officers who have courageously and unselfishly given their lives in the line of duty to preserve our free and peaceful society.

This dedication marks the 58th bridge that has been dedicated to a fallen Police Officer in Ontario since the Highway Memorials For Fallen Police Officers Act came into effect in 2002.

The dedication ceremony took place on September 25th at the Cst. Chris Garrett Memorial Park in Cobourg and coincided with the annual arrival of the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run known as the "Run to Remember”.
300 runners (friends, co-workers and spouses) with names of fallen officers on their shirts, arrived to applause and solemnly touched the memorial statue.
