With traffic safety a top priority for the community, itis the objective of the Cobourg Police Service to make our community roadways as safe as possible, through enforcement and educational programs. As part of these continuous efforts, officers of the Cobourg Police conducted traffic enforcement activities, focusing on school zones, during the Back-to-School week of September 4-7, 2018.
As a part of this Selective Traffic Enforcement initiative, forty six (46) Highway Traffic Act charges were issued. Most charges resulted from excessive speed infractions, but also included one motorist using a handheld device and one motorist driving without a valid license.
Similar enforcement activities will be conducted throughout the month of September.
The Cobourg Police Service stresses that safety for all users of our roadways is dependent on awareness, cooperation, courtesy and adherence to rules of the road.
