On Sunday the 8th day of November 2015 in the early morning hours the Cobourg police responded to a Mental Health Act call at a residence in the west end of Cobourg .   Upon arrival police observed a female who was out of control and who appeared to be suffering from a mental disorder.  Police attempted to apprehend the female under the Mental Health Act and a physical altercation occurred.  As a result of the altercation one officer received minor injuries.   Police eventually gained compliance and the female was transport to the hospital for a psychiatric assessment.

As a result of the incident a female Cobourg resident was charged with assaulting a police officer with intent to resist, and two counts of mischief to property.  The female was released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
