The community has suffered from an increase of thefts from unlocked motor vehicles and open garages. Police are urging members of the public to lock their cars and garages. A major deterrent to thefts from vehicles is the removal of all valuables

On Sunday July 30, 2017 at 12:15 pm, a male waved down a Cobourg Police cruiser on Division Street to report that he had just been threatened by another male who was in possession of a weapon.
As a result of an investigation, 39 year old Matthew BEAULIEU of Cobourg was arrested and charged with Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and two counts of Breach of a Peace Bond.

Mischief to Police Station
On Wednesday June 21, 2017, at approximately 8:55pm, police were contacted regarding a male who had just kicked the glass out of the Cobourg Police Service front door. Following an investigation, 20 year old Adam HALLIDAY was subsequently arrested for Mischief under $5000 and Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to the Criminal Code.

Between Monday May 29, 2017 and Sunday June 4, 2017 the Cobourg Police Service responded to 195 calls for service including 4 Noise Complaints, 3 Mental Health related, 10 Alarms,1 Fraud, 10 Thefts,5 911 Calls, 2 Break and Enters,8 Assaults, 10 Motor Vehicle Collisions and 3 Liquor Licence Act.
