Criminal Investigation Bureau

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is a fully accredited office within the Cobourg Police Service and is an integral part of the overall efficiency of the department. Manned by highly trained investigators, the unit is supervised by Sergeant Brent Allison.

CIB take on initial investigations that are more in-depth, complicated and time consuming, as well as assuming investigations from Uniform officers such as sexual assaults, thefts, fraud, assaults, stolen property and Break and Enters.  They monitor local Second Hand Goods stores for items brought in for purchase that might be stolen property. As well, the officers administrate and monitor clients on the Ontario Sex Offender Registry.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief, the detectives conduct investigations to meet the mandated Adequacy Standards.
