Cobourg Police arrested three men after a search warrant was executed on Tuesday, June 15 at a Spring Street apartment.
Police entered the residence and seized 37 grams of crack cocaine, several hundred dollars in cash, a knife, two cell phones and several drug paraphernalia items.
Charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and weapons dangerous are Michael Barry, age 56 of Cobourg, Nikolai Grey, age 18 of Mississauga and Anthony Bartley, age 21 of Toronto.
Bartley and Grey are also charged with two additional counts of failing to comply with court recognizance’s and probation orders. They have been held in custody pending bail hearings. Barry was released to a future court date.
The approximate street value of the seized drugs is $4,000, 00.
Cobourg Police have arrested three men for stealing bicycles.
On Thursday, May 27 at approximately 10:40 a.m., three suspects were observed at the east campus of C.R. Gummow School on Cottesmore Avenue.
They cut the lock on one bicycle with a pair of bolt cutters and selected another unlocked bicycle from the bike rack. They were observed leaving the school property with both bicycles.
The police investigation resulted in the arrest of three men residing on Chapel Street. The stolen bicycles were also located at the residence.
Joseph Gregory Bell, age 18, Nicholas David Burr, age 20 and Michael Macdow, age 18, have all been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.00. Bell is also facing a charge of failing to comply with a probation order
Sometime during the overnight hours on Wednesday, May 26, someone attended an address on Ontario Street and damaged a vehicle parked there.
The suspect(s) drilled a hole into the gas tank of a pickup truck and most of the fuel appeared to have spilled onto the ground. The culprit(s) were most likely attempting to collect the fuel for themselves.
Cobourg Police received a report, on Friday May 28, of someone entering a Forth Street residential property and stealing four plastic bags full of empty BRAVIA beer cans. The cans were on the back porch and worth approximately $40.00.
Early Saturday morning, May 29 at 12:25 a.m., Cobourg Police located an intoxicated man behind a business on D’Arcy Street.
The male was passed out on a cement ledge. He had the strong odour of alcohol on his breath, his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.
He was arrested for public intoxication and returned to the police office. The accused continuously stated he had not been drinking and volunteered a sample of his breath. He was given a breath test on a roadside alcotest device which he failed badly.
The 22 year old Harwood man was held in police custody until he sobered up.
