On Sunday, June 20 at 6:08 p.m., Cobourg Police investigated a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of University Avenue West and D’Arcy Street.
A car travelling eastbound on University Avenue had stopped at the stop sign but proceeded out into the intersection and collided with a northbound pickup truck on D’Arcy Street.
The driver of the car, a 19 year old Cobourg man, has been charged with starting from a stopped position unsafely.
There were no injuries however both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.
On Saturday morning at around 4:30 p.m., witnesses in the area of Ontario Street and William Street called police reporting a vehicle had hit some telephone pole support cables causing considerable damage to the car. The vehicle was then reported heading northbound on Ontario Street.
Cobourg Police located the suspect vehicle in the lot of the Orange Hall on Ontario Street and two suspected occupants close by.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of 21 year old Colborne woman who told police that she had struck the pole and then parked to get off the road.
The female showed the usual signs of impairment and was arrested. She was taken to the police office where she blew over twice the legal limit.
Jennifer Patterson has been charged with impaired driving and driving over .08.
Cobourg Police are investigating damage which occurred at the outdoor rink warming room and washrooms.
The mischief took place between 9:00 p.m., Thursday, June 17 and 7:00 a.m., the next morning. Someone forced the aluminum-framed glass door open. Once inside they smashed the mirrors and soap dispensers in both washrooms.
