Cobourg police are continuing to investigate the physical assault of two male teens on Sutherland Crescent. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday night, March 17.
A silver Pontiac Sunfire with tinted windows approached a small group of males and two or three of the occupants got out of the car and approached the victims.
The investigation revealed that two of victims were punched in the head and dropped to the ground where they were kicked.
The suspects were asking the victims for money, specifically ‘give us the money’.
The victims suffered small facial cuts and sore upper bodies. They did not require medical treatment.
The suspects, who had left the area before police arrived, are described as white males. One has a heavy build and is 25 – 30 years of age. The second is over 6’ tall with tattoos on his neck.
The victims were not very forthcoming with details of the assault in fact the incident was reported to police by a neighbour who witnessed it.
On Wednesday afternoon, March 17 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Cobourg police received a report of four men in the downtown area with handguns and masks.
Police located the four men in a van parked on King Street just west of Division Street.
Police quickly located two toy handguns and were told by the men that they were filming a movie for a local church.
The toy guns were seized by police who don’t understand why people would not call police and ask for permission for such an activity.
Toy guns, which often look real, are treated as being real by police until officers prove otherwise.
On Friday, March 12 at 3:50 p.m., Cobourg Police investigated a two-vehicle collision on Heath Street.
A car was stopped westbound, waiting to turn into the rear lot of Tim Horton’s Restaurant, when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck.
The 35 year old Cobourg man driving the truck had turned off of William Street and was unable to get stopped in time to avoid the collision. He was charged with careless driving.
Cobourg Police investigated three separate motor vehicle collisions on Division Street, all occurring on Friday, March 12.
The first occurred at 1:00 p.m., when an 18 year old Roseneath man pulled his car out of the KFC parking lot. He attempted to turn north onto Division Street and struck a car which was northbound.
One person was taken to hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries. The 18 year old driver has been charged with failing to yield. His car was driven from the scene however the right-of-way car needed a tow.
The second and third crashes occurred at the entrance to the VIA station.
The first happened at 1:40 p.m., when a GMC Yukon attempted to leave the station and turn left onto to Division Street. They collided with a car travelling southbound on Division Street. The 21 year old female driver of the Yukon has been charged with failing to yield. There were no injuries but the car travelling on Division Street required a tow from the scene.
Twenty minutes later, a minor collision occurred at the VIA driveway involving two southbound cars. The lead car was stopped in traffic when it was rear-ended by a car following southbound.
There were no injuries and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
A 32 year old woman living on Burnham Manor Court has been charged with allowing unacceptable noise at her residence.
Cobourg Police received a complaint early Saturday morning, March 13 around 3:00 a.m.
Once at the residence, police agreed that the music was much too loud and requested the accused turn it off. She was warned that if it was turned loud again that she would be charged.
No sooner had police left when the accused turned the music even louder that before. Officer’s returned, confirmed the noise, and issued the woman with a violation ticket. The fine is $155.00.
While police were on scene the second time, all the party goers were asked to leave the residence by the accused. Everyone complied.
