The Cobourg Police Service Property Branch processes all property, whether the item is submitted as found, stolen or as evidence in criminal proceedings.

Property - Evidence
Claims to property which have been seized by the police or held as evidence cannot be released to the public by Property Branch staff without prior written consent from the officer in charge of the case.

Property - Lost and Found
Found property is held for 90 days, with the exception of bikes which are held for 30 days, while the police and Property Branch attempt to locate and notify owners. If an owner is identified, the owner will be contacted and they will have 30 days to claim the property. To do this, the owner must bring with them photo ID to the Cobourg Police Station. Unclaimed property is auctioned, destroyed, donated, or returned to the finder once the holding period has expired. Lost or stolen property should be reported to police, prior to contacting the Property Branch.
