A 31 year old Cobourg man has been charged with Theft Under $5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000.00 as the result of stealing merchandise from Liquidation World, and leaving the store without paying for it.
Store staff apprehended the accused outside of the store and held him for police. The merchandise totaled $37.00.
He was released on a Promise To Appear form and will attend Cobourg court on Monday, December 24 at 9:30 a.m. to face the charges. 7255
Cobourg Police conducted R.I.D.E. checks around town on Saturday night, November 24. A total of 300 vehicles were checked resulting in two 12-hour suspensions and numerous Highway Traffic Act warnings.
In both of the suspension cases, the vehicles were towed away by police. 7225, 7227
Cobourg Police have charged a 17 year old Cobourg teen with making a Turn – Not in Safety after the driver lost control turning left onto Ewing Street from Kerr Street. The collision occurred just after midnight on Saturday, November 24.
His car subsequently struck a hydro pole on the west side of Ewing Street causing the vehicle’s air bag to deploy.
The driver was not injured however his car had to be towed from the scene. 7202
On Friday, November 23 at approximately 7:42 p.m., security staff at Zeller’s observed a male and a female take a number of items and leave the store without paying for them.
The couple were followed to the parking lot where they were observed by security leaving in a car. Their licence plate number was recorded and given to police.
The registered owner of the suspect vehicle came back as having a Port Hope address. Police in Port Hope were alerted and subsequently stopped the car on Wellington Street.
The police investigation resulted in the arrest of a 21 year old man and a 19 year old female, both from Port Hope. Stolen CD’s and two pairs of jeans were also located in the vehicle.
The couple have both been charged with Theft Under $5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000.00. The male was released on a Promise To Appear form for court in Cobourg on Monday, December 24 at 9:30 a.m.
The female has been held in custody and will appear for a Show Cause Hearing in Cobourg court on Monday, November 26 at 1:30 p.m. 7196

On Saturday October 13th, 2007, a suspect broke into a 2007 Envoy which was parked at the Golden Plough Lodge. The suspect removed the victim’s purse from this vehicle. During that same day a suspect used the victim’s credit card to make purchases at several Cobourg Stores.
The Cobourg Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the male in the attached photographs.
This male is a large male who walks with a noticeable limp. He has short dark hair and wears glasses. This male was seen driving a silver or beige compact, GM pick-up truck with an extended cab.

Cobourg Police are investigating the break, enter and theft at an Ontario Street construction office.
Sometime over the past weekend, an unknown person entered the business through a window.
The owner reported to police that the thief stole several old cell phones and a small quantity of wine.

Sometime Friday night, November 16, a light post in front of the Woodlawn Inn on Division Street was knocked over.
