On Friday evening, July 23 around 8:00 p.m., a private security guard was driving on D’Arcy Street and observed three males taking used iron sewer pipe and loading it into the rear of a pickup truck.
Police were called and took the report from the security guard. His report included a description of the suspect, their vehicle and the stolen pipe.
A short while later, police located the truck, the driver and the stolen property in the James Street area.
Police arrested Brian Cross, a 47 year old Cobourg resident and recovered four pieces of the sewer pipe on his property.
He has been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.00 as well as a breach of probation. He has been held for a bail hearing.
Cobourg Police investigated a two-car collision on Friday, July 23 at 12:40 p.m., on Second Street.
A vehicle had been travelling southbound on the one-way street, when it reversed and started to travel northbound.
A second car turned off of King Street onto Second Street and was faced with a car reversing in his direction. He stopped and started to back up to avoid a collision however the first car continued to reverse and struck him.
The first car was driven by 69 year old Kanata man and he has been charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
There were no injuries and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
On Tuesday, July 20 at approximately 6:00 p.m., two thirteen year old boys were walking on King Street West when they came upon a scooter parked on the sidewalk.
The boys stole the scooter and headed north bound on Division Street when they came upon another friend, aged 16. Now all three were riding the stolen scooter in a reckless fashion.
The trio ended up at a residence on Sutherland Crescent and put the scooter in the garage. It was damaged and not running by this time.
Police learned the whereabouts of the stolen scooter and when they attended at the residence, the three accused teens turned over the scooter and admitted to having stolen it.
The three boys, all from Cobourg, have been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.00.
The scooter was subsequently returned to the owner. There was a considerable amount of cosmetic damage and possible mechanical damage done to the scooter.
During the past weekend at Victoria Park and the beach area, four children were reported missing or lost to police volunteers in the trailer park at different times.
The children were all located within 10 to 15 minutes and all were fine. They were quickly reunited with parents or grandparents.
The children were ages 5, 8 and two were 7 years old.
Sometime between 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 17 and Sunday morning, two businesses at 884 Division Street were entered.
In both cases the front doors were the entry points. Both business owners report to police that some ransacking occurred and small amounts of cash were taken
