Cobourg Police are investigating the theft of material from an apartment on William Street. Two roles of carpet were stolen as well as two plastic tool boxes containing plumbing tools, wrenches and a rechargeable drill.
The theft occurred between August 7 and 9 as the apartment was being renovated.
Cobourg Police investigated a fail to remain collision on Friday, August 6 which occurred at 3:00 p.m.
A tractor hauling a large float trailer was northbound on Ontario Street and turned right onto Albert Street. In the process of turning, the tractor trailer struck a hydro pole on the southeast corner causing it to snap.
A witness in the area called police as the tractor trailer left the scene. Police were given information about the vehicle and subsequently contacted the operator.
The driver, a 23 year old man from Warkworth has been charged with making an improper right turn, failing to report an accident and failing to report damage to property on a highway.
On Saturday evening, August 7 between 10:00 – 11:30 p.m., two men entered an unlocked car parked on Ball Street and stole some items.
They stole a purse which contained a cell phone, a camera, a wallet, sunglasses and a computer memory stick.
A short time later, with the assistance of a witness, the two suspects were spotted in the area again. They were approached by police and arrested as they fit the description of the suspects given to police earlier.
The investigation resulted in the recovery of the stolen items and the arrests of two Cobourg men aged 19 and 24 years.
They have both been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.00 and the 24 year old has also been charged with breaching his probation order.
Cobourg Police are investigating the theft of some tools and equipment from a truck parked at Chadwick Motors on County Road 2 west of Cobourg.
Sometime between 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 6 and 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, the rear of a truck parked in the lot was entered.
Thieves stole some wrenches, torch heads and torch regulators. The value of items is unknown.
Approximately 100 feet of welding cable had been removed from the truck but was found lying close by. The culprits may have left the cable after being scared off by an employee who arrived at the location.
