Cobourg Police are investigating two more reports of vehicles being entered.
Sometime between July 31 and August 11, someone entered a car parked in the driveway of a Booth Court home. The glove box had been opened and the contents strewn around. There is no report of anything stolen from the vehicle.
However over the same time period and at the same location, two cushions from a patio set were taken from the front porch. They are described as being white with pink and blue flowers.
Another report has been received by police of a vehicle being entered sometime between August 8 and 11. The vehicle was parked at an Ontario Street residence.
The owner reports the theft of an HP digital camera, silver in colour and a Calloway sunglass case.
On Monday evening, August 9 at 8:00 p.m., Cobourg Police stopped a motorcycle on University Avenue West for speeding.
The officer quickly determined the driver had been drinking and demanded a roadside breath test which the accused failed.
He was arrested and returned to the police office where two more breath tests were taken. The results showed that the accused had over three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Further investigation also revealed he did not have a motorcycle licence and that he was currently on a court-order recognizance from other criminal charges.
The 58 year old Cobourg man has been charged with impaired driving, driving with over .08 mgs of alcohol, breach of recognizance, speeding and driving a motorcycle with the proper driver’s licence.
A 23 year old Cobourg man has been charged with mischief and two counts of domestic assault resulting from several recent incidents where he is alleged to have assaulted his girl friend and mother.
The incidents occurred on July 29 and August 10.
Also on August 10, the accused was charged with mischief when he smashed the window of vehicle being operated by girl friend. She was trying to leave the residence as she feared for her safety.
An artist, who had attended the recent Waterfront Festival in Cobourg, has reported to police that she now realizes that 12 water-colour paintings were stolen from a display portfolio.
The stolen paintings are all 8” X 10” and worth $125.00 each. The theft would have occurred between July 1 and 4 in the Lion’s Artist tent.
Cobourg Police are investigating the theft of material from an apartment on William Street. Two roles of carpet were stolen as well as two plastic tool boxes containing plumbing tools, wrenches and a rechargeable drill.
The theft occurred between August 7 and 9 as the apartment was being renovated.
